12 Mistakes That Tesla Owners Should Avoid at All Costs!

Welcome back to the my Tesla Channel! My name is Jeremiah, and in this blog post, I’m going to be going over 12 things that you should avoid doing with your Tesla. These range from things that could make your ownership experience a little bit worse all the way to things that could literally destroy your car.

First on the list is slamming the front trunk or not properly closing it. Unlike most cars, Tesla‘s front trunk has a specific way to be closed, which can be found in the car’s manual. Applying pressure to any other part of the hood could cause damage, so it’s important to follow the proper closing procedure.

Next, using the manual door release can also cause damage to your Tesla. While there has been an update to lower the window when the manual release is used, it’s still recommended to only use it in emergencies as it can damage the window or trim.

Another thing to avoid is charging your Tesla to 100% on a frequent basis or letting it sit at 100% for extended periods. While it’s fine to charge to 100% for a long road trip, it’s best to leave within five minutes of reaching 100% to prevent degradation.

Bypassing software limitations or using autopilot bypass devices is also something to avoid. Tesla can detect these devices and using them could void your warranty or result in restrictions on autopilot or full self-driving features.

Taking your Tesla to a touch car wash is also not recommended, as the brushes used can scratch the paint, especially on Tesla‘s soft and thin paint. It’s best to use a safe and simple car wash method at home to avoid damage.

Using abrasive cleaners on your Tesla seats can also damage them, as they come from the factory with a protective coating. It’s best to use warm water and a non-detergent cleaner or fragrance-free baby wipes to clean the seats.

Avoiding curb rash on your Tesla‘s wheels, especially on performance models, is important. Parking away from curbs or backing into spaces can help prevent damage to the wheels.

Lastly, driving on a cold battery, extreme acceleration or deceleration with a cold battery, and using your Tesla as a boat are all things to avoid. Preconditioning the battery before fast charging or driving in cold weather can improve efficiency and prevent damage.

Overall, these 12 things to avoid doing with your Tesla can help maintain the quality and performance of your car. Remember to follow the proper procedures and take care of your Tesla to ensure a great ownership experience. Thank you for reading and stay tuned for more Tesla-related content on my channel!
