Alex Honnold’s Free Solo Diet: Climbing Gold with Alex Honnold

As I sit here contemplating my love for sugar and climbing, I can’t help but think about the impact of my diet on my overall health. In a world filled with endless information on different types of diets, it can be overwhelming to navigate what is best for me.

For years, I have been consistent in my vegetarian diet, mindful of the environmental impact of my food choices. However, I have always had a bit of a sweet tooth, making it challenging to eat well all the time. Recently, I decided to try using a continuous glucose monitor as a personal experiment to learn more about how my body reacts to different foods.

To my surprise, I discovered that some foods I thought were healthy actually spiked my blood sugar, while some desserts had little to no effect. This revelation has made me rethink my approach to dieting, moving away from an all-or-nothing mindset towards a more nuanced approach. I aim to eat fewer foods that spike my blood sugar while still enjoying treats in moderation.

When it comes to alcohol, I have never been a fan of the taste and have never felt the need to develop a taste for it. I have always been mindful of not getting into things that could impair my judgment, especially when I am so passionate about other aspects of my life, like climbing and indulging in sweet treats.

While some may question my choices to avoid caffeine and alcohol, I have found that it simply does not align with my preferences and values. I have no desire to start drinking just for the sake of fitting in or conforming to societal norms.

Ultimately, I believe in listening to my body and making choices that align with my values and goals. Whether it’s avoiding alcohol or choosing to eat mindfully, I am confident in my decisions and the impact they have on my overall well-being. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll indulge in a glass of red wine, but for now, I am content with my current lifestyle choices.
