Comparison between Tesla Paint Kit and Dr. ColorChip

Have you ever noticed those annoying paint chips on the front of your car? You know, the ones that seem to magically appear out of nowhere and ruin the pristine look of your vehicle? Well, if you’re a Tesla owner like me, you’re probably familiar with this issue. But fear not, because I have found a solution that won’t break the bank.

I recently purchased two paint repair kits to tackle the pesky chips on my Tesla Model 3. One kit was from the Tesla website, priced at $55, and the other was from Dr. ColorChip, priced at $45-$60 depending on sales. Both kits promised to touch up the paint chips and make them less noticeable, but the real question was, which one was worth it?

I decided to put both kits to the test and see how they compared. The Tesla kit came in a well-presented package, with all the necessary materials included. The Dr. ColorChip kit, on the other hand, was less flashy in presentation but had the same essential items. The Tesla kit contained 0.5 ounces of paint and 1 ounce of blending solution, while the Dr. ColorChip kit offered 1 ounce of paint and 4 ounces of blending solution, giving you more bang for your buck.

I started by cleaning the front of my car and identifying the paint chips that needed touch-ups. I applied the Tesla paint to one set of chips and the Dr. ColorChip paint to another set, using the squeegee provided in the kits. After letting the paint dry, I used the blending solution to smooth out the excess paint and make the chips less noticeable.

Upon inspection, I found that the Tesla paint was a better color match and looked more like the original paint, but it didn’t stay in the chip as well as the Dr. ColorChip paint. The Dr. ColorChip paint was easier to work with, and the bottles allowed for more precise application. In the end, I decided to go with the Dr. ColorChip kit for its ease of use and better results.

While neither kit provided a perfect solution to the paint chips, they did make them less noticeable and improved the overall look of the front of my car. If you’re looking for a quick fix that won’t break the bank, these paint repair kits are a good option. However, if you want a flawless finish, you may need to invest in a professional paint job.

In conclusion, both the Tesla and Dr. ColorChip paint repair kits have their pros and cons, but for me, the Dr. ColorChip kit was the better choice. It was easier to work with and provided more paint and blending solution for a lower price. So if you’re dealing with paint chips on your Tesla or any other vehicle, give the Dr. ColorChip kit a try and see the difference it can make. Stay positively charged and happy driving!
