Costly Repair Estimate for My 2013 Tesla Model S 85 Project Car at Tesla Service Center

Hey there, Tesla enthusiasts! Today, I have an exciting story to share with you all about my recent trip to the Tesla Service Center. As some of you may know, I have a 2013 Tesla Model S that I purchased a few months ago as a project car.

When I first got the car, I noticed a clunking sound coming from the rear every time I accelerated or decelerated. I suspected it was something to do with the motor mounts or the rear drive unit. So, I decided to take it to the Tesla Service Center to get it checked out.

After a couple of days of waiting, the technicians at the Service Center finally diagnosed the issue. It turns out that the motor mounts were worn out, causing the clunking sound. However, to my surprise, their solution was to replace the entire drive unit, which would cost me a whopping $7,500!

I was taken aback by the cost and the fact that they weren’t willing to just replace the worn-out bushings in the motor mounts. So, I decided to decline their offer and look for alternative solutions. I spoke to a used Tesla dealer who had a similar issue with a car and was able to get it fixed for under $900 at a local shop.

This got me thinking that maybe I could find a more cost-effective solution to fix the worn-out bushings in my Tesla Model S. I reached out to the local shop recommended by the dealer and they confirmed that they could fix the issue for a fraction of the cost of replacing the entire drive unit.

I was thrilled by this news and immediately scheduled an appointment to get the motor mounts fixed. Driving my Tesla Model S with the clunking sound was bearable, but knowing that I could get it fixed without breaking the bank was a huge relief.

After getting the motor mounts fixed, I took my Tesla Model S for a spin and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The clunking sound was gone, and the car drove smoothly once again. It was a great feeling to know that I had found a more affordable solution to my car troubles.

In conclusion, my experience at the Tesla Service Center taught me a valuable lesson about exploring alternative options and not always going with the most expensive solution. Sometimes, a little research and reaching out to the right people can save you a lot of money and hassle in the long run.

I hope this story inspires you to think outside the box when it comes to car repairs and to always seek out the best possible solution for your vehicle. Thanks for tuning in, and remember to drive safe out there!
