Fixing Tesla Door Handles: A Step-by-Step Guide

Hey guys, Car Guru here! Don’t you hate it when your Tesla Model S door handles fail? It can be frustrating, but fear not, I’m here to show you how to replace them yourself and save a bunch of money in the process.

Today, I had to help my wife replace her door handle after it failed on her. It’s a common occurrence with these Tesla models, but with the right tools and a little know-how, you can easily replace it yourself.

First things first, you’ll need a T30 and a 9 or 10 millimeter tool, depending on the age of your car. You’ll also need a trim removal tool to help you pop off the plastic trim pieces and access the screws.

To start the replacement process, you’ll need to remove the plastic trim pieces and screws holding the door panel in place. It can be a bit tricky, but with a little patience and the right tools, you’ll have the panel off in no time.

Once the panel is off, you’ll need to disconnect the door handle harness and remove the old door handle. This is where you’ll find the most common failing points of the door handle, such as corrosion and internal breakage.

After replacing the harness and installing the new door handle, you’ll need to adjust it to ensure it sits flush and functions properly. Once everything is in place, you can reassemble the door panel and test out the new door handle.

And there you have it, a successful door handle replacement without breaking the bank. With a little DIY spirit and the right tools, you can tackle this common Tesla Model S issue on your own.

I hope you found this guide helpful and entertaining. Stay tuned for more Tesla how-to’s, comedy, and general ridiculousness from yours truly, Car Guru. Don’t forget to like, share, and subscribe for more automotive tips and tricks. Thanks for watching!
