Hey guys, it’s L’Oreal here and I’m just shooting this video because it has been a good two years already since we took delivery of this car Pikachu Model S. We have already done let’s look at the odometer reading right now parked outside of my wife’s office at 104,000 kilometers. I just want to give you an update and share with you what our service visits look like and how much we have spent overall in terms of maintaining and running it.
Overall, we have had eight visits to the service center, including some Ranger visits at the time when we did not have the service center here in Calgary. Our first Ranger visit was at 8,747 kilometers due to an airbag light and a right side mirror issue, which were fixed under warranty. Our second visit was at 14,666 kilometers, where the front bumper assembly was replaced under warranty. The most major repair we had was at 20,924 kilometers when the front left and right suspension links were replaced. This was done at a Tesla accredited facility since we didn’t have a service center at the time.
Our fourth visit was a recall for the parking brake, and the fifth visit was at 39,000 kilometers for a slight humming noise from the front, which was fixed under warranty. At 70,474 kilometers, the front fascia grill cover was replaced to eliminate a noise. We also upgraded the charger to 72 amps using referral credits. Our sixth visit was at 77,566 kilometers, where we opted for the one-year service and got arachnid wheels installed for peace of mind. The seventh visit was at 82,936 kilometers for a light rattle from the steering column, which was fixed under goodwill.
Today, for our eighth visit at 103,963 kilometers, there was a noise from the left side of the car, which turned out to be a minor trim piece issue costing $39.85. Overall, after 104,000 kilometers and two years of ownership, we have spent only $669.85 on maintenance, averaging $52,000 a year.
When comparing the cost savings versus a comparable gas-powered car, we saved over $3,000 in maintenance costs over the past two years. In terms of running costs, we spent $2,792.85 on electricity and maintenance for the Tesla Model S, while a gas-powered car would have cost $18,772. Considering our driving habits, we saved $15,979.15 over two years, averaging $663.75 per month.
In conclusion, the savings from owning a Tesla Model S in terms of maintenance and running costs are significant, making it a cost-effective choice compared to a gas-powered car.
