As someone who is proudly over 45, I have learned a thing or two about how to adapt makeup to my skin to achieve a more youthful and fresh look.
First and foremost, it’s important to prep your skin with products that boost moisture and plumpness. I personally love the Toucha serum stick for its convenience and skin-beneficial properties. Hydrating your lips is also key, and I recommend using a lip balm to keep them moist and prepped for lipstick.
When it comes to priming your face, opt for products that hydrate and smooth out your skin texture. I love using the Toucher liquid silk canvas for a smooth base before applying foundation. Speaking of foundation, I have a trick for using full coverage foundation on mature skin. Instead of layering on multiple products, I mix different shades of foundation to create dimension and avoid a cakey look.
For color correction and concealing, I mix a color corrector with concealer to create a custom shade that corrects and conceals in one step. This helps minimize the number of layers on the skin and gives a more natural finish. Cream products are great for addressing uneven skin texture and fine lines, so don’t be afraid to incorporate them into your routine.
Moving on to brows and eyes, I recommend using a brow pencil to fill in sparse brows and keep them looking light and fluffy. For eyeshadow, opt for shades that brighten and lift the eyes, like peachy nudes and deep browns. A fine tip brow pencil can double as a lip liner to prevent bleeding and cracking around the lips.
To finish off the look, set your makeup with a translucent powder and a setting spray to lock it in place. Don’t forget to apply mascara to both your upper and lower lashes for a bright-eyed look. And finally, choose a lipstick shade that complements your skin tone and top it off with a gloss for a youthful finish.
