Today is January 9th and it’s time to pick up our beloved Model X from Tesla. It has been in service for the past 6 days since January 3rd when we dropped it off. In the meantime, I have been driving a massive car called the Infiniti QX60. Despite its size, I have found it to be quite cumbersome to drive, especially when it comes to taking turns. The weight distribution seems to be all wrong, making the driving experience less than ideal.
One of the major issues I have with the Infiniti is the poor visibility out of the rearview mirror. The headrests in the backseat obstruct the view, creating a larger blind spot than usual. It’s definitely not a design feature I appreciate, and I have found myself struggling to navigate the roads safely.
As we arrive at Tesla to pick up our Model X, I can’t help but compare the two cars. The QX60 is not a suitable replacement for the Model X, despite claims that they are comparable. The Model X is in a league of its own, with superior design and performance that the Infiniti simply cannot match.
The repair bill for the Model X comes to a hefty $3,200 plus tax. While we did receive a discount for having multiple Teslas in the family, it’s still a significant cost for a repair. The AC compressor needed to be replaced, along with several other parts, bringing the total cost to over $3,000. It’s a reminder of the expenses that come with owning a luxury vehicle, especially when it’s out of warranty.
Speaking of warranties, our Model X was just 12,000 miles past the original warranty when the AC compressor failed. The service team had predicted this issue during a previous visit, but it still came as a surprise when it actually happened. It’s a lesson learned for future maintenance, as catching problems early can save both time and money in the long run.
Despite the unexpected repair costs, I am relieved to have our Model X back in our possession. The driving experience is incomparable to any other car, and I am grateful for the luxury and performance it provides. As we drive off from Tesla, I can’t help but appreciate the craftsmanship and innovation that goes into each Tesla vehicle.
