My Second Tesla Repair Out of Warranty

Hey folks, internet dude here. Yeah, I know it’s been a while since my last video, probably close to six weeks. But I thought I’d at least put out a little short video here for you, just giving you an update on my 2015 Model S 85D.

So, my car is out of warranty now, and I recently had the Tesla Ranger, pardon me, mobile tech out here last week to fix a few things. One of the issues they addressed was a problem with the right front door handle. Back in July, the tech didn’t have all the parts to replace it, but this time they were able to fix it under warranty.

Another issue I had been experiencing was a rattle from the front suspension when going over bumps. It turns out the brake pads had a bit of movement in the caliper, causing the noise. Even though my car is out of warranty, Tesla covered this repair since I had reported the issue multiple times while it was still under warranty.

If you’ve been following my channel, you’ll know that I had a problem with the glovebox door, which I showed you how to replace and save $1,500. This would have been my first out-of-warranty repair on the car. The second recent issue I had was the steering getting stiff at times when turning the wheel. After some research on the Tesla Motors Club forum, I discovered that the problem was with the intermediate shaft steering link non-isolator lower, which had a failed universal joint.

I had to replace the entire part, which was a bit of a challenge. The mobile tech had to jack up the car, remove the wheel, and access the part through a small opening. It wasn’t a quick or easy job, so I opted to have Tesla replace it for around $500 CAD.

My 2015 Model S 85D is about to hit the 90,000 kilometer mark, and overall, it’s been a pretty good car. While there have been some issues here and there, I’m hoping it will be reliable from here on out. I’ll keep you guys updated on any future developments, so stay tuned to the channel.
