Our First Tesla Service: Tire Rotation and Wheel Alignment Cost

If you’ve been following us along on our Tesla journey, you may remember that we picked up our car in August last year. Now, almost a year later, we have finally clocked 10,000 kilometers on our Model 3, which means it was time to take it in for our first Tesla service.

You’ve probably heard that EVs require very little maintenance, so you may be wondering what exactly we got done in the service. Tesla recommends rotating the tires every 10,000 kilometers or 6,250 miles, as it helps maintain an even tread wear pattern, enhances tire quality, decreases road noise, and maximizes the tire’s lifespan. For our service, we opted to get the tires rotated and also get a wheel alignment done.

Scheduling a service appointment with Tesla is a super simple process done through the Tesla Mobile app. You can request a service, choose the type of service you need, add any notes or concerns, select an appointment slot, receive a quote, approve the quote, and lock in your appointment all within the app. The best part is that you can directly chat with Tesla support reps at any point throughout your service request.

For the tire rotation, Tesla offers a completely mobile service in most regions, where a technician will come to your location to rotate the tires. This convenient service only costs $39, which is amazing value for what Tesla delivers. The automatic quoting system may sometimes show an incorrect price, but Tesla will promptly correct it if you reach out to them.

If you opt for additional services like a wheel alignment that require specialized equipment, you may need to take your car into a Tesla service center. During my service appointment, I was impressed by Tesla‘s customer service. They offered me $60 worth of Uber credits to go back home or work while my car was being serviced, and the entire process was seamless.

When I picked up my car, it was washed, vacuumed, and fully charged. The final invoice was sent to my Tesla app, which also maintains a complete record of all my service history. The total cost for the tire rotation and wheel alignment was $146, which I found to be great value for the exceptional service I received.

Overall, my first Tesla service experience was top-notch, and I can’t recommend it enough. Let me know in the comments if you found this information useful and share your own Tesla service experiences. Until next time, stay charged!
