Hey everyone, it’s Paul with United Bumper Repair! Today, we have another exciting repair project on a Tesla Model Y in a stunning three-stage pearl white color. This particular Tesla Model Y got bumped in a few places, leaving some minor dents and scratches that need to be fixed.
As I inspect the damage, I can see a small dent here and a little bump there. It’s not easy to spot, but it’s definitely there. We’ll be focusing on repairing this area and blending the color seamlessly to make it look as good as new. The client has already provided the replacement piece for this little section, so we’ll be swapping that out as well.
Before we dive into the repair process, I always make sure to tape off the inner panels to protect them from any overspray. I also like to create a folded tape edge to ensure a clean finish when we untape it later on. This attention to detail helps us achieve a flawless result that looks like it came straight from the factory.
Next, I tackle the dent by tapping the metal back into place and applying a bit of filler to smooth out the surface. Once everything is prepped and ready to go, it’s time to choose the right paint color. I use spray-out cards to compare different variances of the paint code and select the perfect match for the Tesla Model Y.
With the base coat applied, I start blending the white color and the pearl finish to achieve a seamless transition. I take my time to ensure that the blend is perfect, tacking off any overspray before moving on to the next step. The application of the pearl coat requires a careful eye and multiple coats to get the color just right.
After the pearl coat is applied, it’s time to seal the deal with a clear coat. This final step adds shine and protection to the repaired area, giving it a mirror-like finish. A bit of wet sanding and buffing up the surface ensures a flawless result that is ready for the road.
In total, this repair took about six hours to complete, right at the client’s house. The Tesla Model Y is now looking as good as new, with a seamless repair that you can’t even tell was done. From blending the colors to applying the clear coat, every step was meticulously executed to ensure a top-notch finish.
