Repairing Curb Rash on Tesla Wheels: My Induction Method

The day started off like any other, with the sun shining and the air feeling fresh and clean. But as I walked out to my Tesla, I noticed something that made my heart sink – a nice car brush on the wheel. It was clear that my wife had accidentally brushed up against the curb while parking, leaving a noticeable mark on the rear wheel.

I knew I had to get this fixed as soon as possible to get my Tesla looking normal again. Welcome to the imperfect Tesla, where even the smallest imperfections can be a cause for concern. But I was determined to tackle this issue head-on and get my car looking pristine once more.

I decided to use a repair kit from Zinc Wheels, a kit I had used before on two other wheels with minor rashes. The kit came with everything I needed – sanding discs, touch-up paint, and detailed instructions on how to proceed. I set up my workspace, cleaned the wheel, and got to work.

Using the 80 grit sanding disc, I gently sanded down the rough edges of the damaged area. I then switched to the 240 grit disc to smooth out the surface even further. The process was meticulous and time-consuming, but it was essential to ensure a seamless repair.

Next, it was time to apply the touch-up paint. I practiced on a piece of cardboard first, getting a feel for the paint and the application process. I carefully filled in the damaged area, layering on multiple coats to ensure a seamless finish.

After letting the paint dry, I gave the wheel a final clean to remove any excess paint. From afar, the repair was nearly invisible, blending seamlessly with the rest of the wheel. While there were still some minor imperfections up close, a good wash and polish would likely make them disappear completely.

As I stepped back and admired my handiwork, I felt a sense of satisfaction knowing that I had successfully tackled the curb rash on my Tesla. It may not have been a perfect fix, but it was a job well done. And in the end, isn’t that what matters most?

So the next time you find yourself faced with a similar issue, don’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves and tackle it head-on. With the right tools, a little patience, and a lot of determination, you can turn even the most imperfect situation into a success story. Welcome to the imperfect Tesla – let’s get to it.
