In this week’s episode of our automotive repair channel, we are featuring a Tesla Model 3 with front end damage. The vehicle will be undergoing extensive repairs, including the installation of a new left fender and many other front end parts. Additionally, there will be small repairs done on the right fender and left a-pillar to ensure the vehicle is restored to its original condition.
Before we dive into the repairs, make sure to hit that subscribe button in the upper right-hand corner so you don’t miss out on new episodes every Friday. Now, let’s get started with the repair process.
First, we will be removing the damaged right crush tube, which is being replaced due to a ripped off welded nut that the rebar bolt attaches to. The wiring clips are removed, the fender bracket is unbolted, and the left crush tube is removed from the vehicle. After removing the damaged parts, it’s time to install both new crush tubes, reattach the fender brackets, and connect the wiring clips back to the crush tubes.
Next, the fender assembly is installed, followed by the new crash can brackets, rod support, and front ankle catcher. The wiring connecting to the rod support is plugged back in, ensuring everything is securely in place.
Moving on to the front left door, we start by removing the door trim panel, inner and outer belt moldings, and front door glass. The closeout panel and regulator are then removed to access the front door handle. Once the front left mirror is removed, the door is prepped for paint.
Using a clamp to straighten the edge of the fender, any small buckles are tapped out before sanding and applying a skim coat of finishing putty. A toe dolly is used to bend the fender bracket back into place, followed by a clamp to straighten the bracket. The repair area is cleaned and feather edged before applying a skim coat of putty to both repair areas.
After test fitting the new fender and bumper to ensure they fit correctly, the headlights and fender retainers are installed on both sides. The new front bumper is then test fitted to the vehicle, confirming that all the new parts fit properly.
With everything fitting correctly, the vehicle is disassembled, and the repairs are finished. The front hood emblem is removed, and the front bumper cover is taken off. The left fender is disassembled and removed from the vehicle, followed by the right fender to prepare for painting.
Finishing putty is applied and sanded, ensuring the repair areas are smooth and ready for the paint shop. Stay tuned for the next episode as we continue to document the repair process on this Tesla Model 3. Don’t forget to subscribe to our channel for new videos every Friday.
