Behind me is my 2022 Tesla Model X, and today I’ll take it to Tesla so they can fix some of the imperfections in the falcon wing door that’s having an issue to close since delivery. Let me show you guys the issues I have found during the week of owning the car.
Some comments I’ve been getting a lot of you guys have been saying that the panel gaps aren’t that bad, but we have three Teslas, and this is the third one, and this by far is actually the worst. Like, look at this A-pillar right over here. Do you see how uneven it is? It’s like it’s pushed inwards. And then, if you look from the driver’s side, you can see through it in the mirrors. It is actually super, super uneven right there.
And it seems like even here, the door is just sitting lower than it should be. The bumper pops out, this part’s inwards, and then if you look here, this part is all even, but there’s a gap in the weather seal over here. It’s all kind of crooked. And this is the door that has the issue. The quarter panel is just horrible. You see that gap right there? You see how it just doesn’t align at all? And then you look at the tailgate, look at how much it points out, even pops up. It’s like outwards, it’s not flush with the body. Just points out. Even handles don’t line up here as well. The mirror also does not line up.
Opening the falcon wing door, you can see it actually also started rubbing here through the paint, so it kind of worn out the paint here. And also, this is actually where it seems like it’s rubbing. You can see the plastic cover here has also been wearing out, just like the headliner here. Let’s see if we’ll close. Okay, we’re lucky this time.
Other than all these imperfections, I love this car. I have been also getting some error messages that the turn signal does not function properly, like an error message for the turn signal when it’s about to turn off. It happened about like 10 times so far. I’ve been driving on the Model 3 and Y while on autopilot. Even you can adjust the following distance on this car. I want to adjust the following distance, I have to go through the autopilot and then adjust it from there. It does not adjust when I do this. It does adjust the speed when I go up and down, but left and right it doesn’t work. Pushing down activates autopilot. I don’t know if this new yoke does not allow you to change distance, but right and left does not adjust the following distance.
Hopefully, they can look through all of these and then fix it. All right, I just ended up arriving, so let’s go and give them the key card and hope we’ll take the car back today.
I love these doors, they’re scary though. So I just got a loner car. I think it’s that blue Model X over there. I’ve never been in the Model X until I took delivery of my own, but this is it. It’s in blue. Definitely like the taillights on my car. There’s that chrome I love how they turn that into black. Let’s get in.
Also, this has cloth seats. Okay, the 2022 refresh one. Wow, what a difference. I definitely prefer the 2022. Like right away, the windshield on this, it’s missing that autopilot camera. The stalks, they’re like these are like from the Mercedes, this is like for my C-Class, that’s from the GLA. Even the steering wheel adjustment, it’s like from my C-Class. But yeah, overall guys, the interior on the new refresh like it is a night and day difference.
To be fair, I never knew they had cloth seats with like this leather sides. I arrived home, I ended up actually detailing the interior of this Model X, as you guys can see, it is much cleaner. I also checked the panel gaps, so this one is actually pretty good. So I vacuumed it a little bit, definitely much better than it was when I picked it up.
Something I noticed, this right here, somebody opened up the tailgate, and it seems like it ended up hitting a ceiling. And then here, there’s like a damage, there’s a big scratch on the door. I’ll have a video reviewing this car, I believe it’s a 2018.
About an hour ago, I did get a text from Tesla on the app that the car is finished. I looked through the invoice, and it’s zero dollars, of course. And I just have arrived, got the X over there, so let’s go see if the panels are aligned or if they just found them to be in spec and they didn’t touch it at all.
Goodbye loner, nice Model Y. Okay, so the hood looks the same. As you can see, it looks like the A-pillar is bent inwards. You can also see through it, unlike this side that part does not line up with the roof of the falcon wing.
I didn’t care much about the bumper, but let’s hope the falcon wing is at least fixed. The door doesn’t line up, you can see the mirrors. Looks like it was untouched. So they had the manager come out and take a look at my concerns. He looked through the car with the manager; he’s driving an X as well right now, and that just seems normal with all the X’s. The A-pillar and the quarter panel, like with the lift gate, and if they try to adjust it, they’re just going to make the rest of the alignment worse. So that’s kind of how it is right now, that’s just how they’re making them.
Sitting back in this though, wow, what a difference. Like going out of the 2018 and getting into this 2022, this refresh is just a whole different experience. So that’s my service appointment experience. I love this car. Yes, some parts don’t look perfect, but the way it drives, the way you feel inside of it, how safe it is, the autopilot, these doors are beautiful. They did adjust the door and it’s supposed to not do that anymore, but yeah, Tesla service has been good so far to me all the time.
Overall, thank you guys so much for watching. If you guys are new to the channel, consider subscribing. I’ll see you guys next time.
