Review of Amazon’s Windshield Chip Repair Kit

As I sat in my car, staring at the crack in my windshield, I knew I needed to find a solution. But with a tight budget, getting it replaced or fixed by a professional was out of the question. That’s when I stumbled upon an 18 kit on Amazon that claimed to fix windshield cracks for just fifteen dollars. Intrigued by the affordable price, I decided to give it a try and see if it was worth the investment.

The kit arrived promptly, and I eagerly unpacked it to see what it contained. Inside were a few plastic tabs, four of them to be exact, and two razor blades. The instructions seemed simple enough – just apply the solution, cover it with the plastic tabs, and let it dry in the sun. It sounded easy, but would it really work?

I began by cleaning the cracked area of my windshield with a multi-surface cleaner, trying to remove as much dirt as possible. The crack had grown significantly since I first noticed it, and I hoped this kit would be able to fix it. Following the directions, I applied the solution with one of the plastic tabs, trying to cover the crack as evenly as possible.

After waiting for 20 minutes, I removed the plastic tabs to reveal the dried solution. It seemed promising, but as I began to peel away the excess, I realized that the cracks were still visible. The solution had smoothed out the surface, but it hadn’t filled in the cracks as I had hoped.

Disappointed with the results, I tried scraping away some of the solution to see if it would make a difference. Unfortunately, the cracks remained, and it was clear that the kit had not lived up to its claims. The windshield was still cracked, and I was left feeling frustrated with the wasted time and money.

In the end, I wouldn’t recommend this 18 kit from Amazon to anyone looking to fix their windshield cracks. It simply didn’t work as promised, and I was left with a cracked windshield and a sense of regret for trying the product. Perhaps it would work better for smaller chips, but for larger cracks like mine, it was a complete waste.

So, if you find yourself in a similar situation with a cracked windshield, I would advise saving up for a professional repair or replacement. It may cost more upfront, but it will save you the disappointment of a failed DIY solution. As for me, I’ll be looking into other options to fix my windshield and hoping for better results next time.
