Thank you for joining me today, my name is Heather and I wanted to share a simple stretch with you that can help bring you into the present moment. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get caught up in thoughts about the future or stuck in the past. This can lead to anxiety and depression, making it difficult to find peace of mind.
One practice that has been incredibly helpful for me is mindfulness. Mindfulness is simply the act of bringing your attention back to the present moment whenever you notice that you’ve drifted off into thought. It’s about being aware of what is happening right here, right now.
One way to practice mindfulness is through simple stretches and movements, connecting with your breath and body. By focusing on the sensations in your body and the rhythm of your breath, you can bring yourself back to center and find a sense of calm.
So, let’s take a moment to practice together. Find a comfortable seated position and rest your hands on your knees. Take a deep breath in through your nose, exhale out through your mouth. Repeat this a few times, then take a deep inhale, followed by a second sip of air before exhaling completely.
Bring your awareness to different parts of your body, starting from the top of your head down to your feet. Notice any tension or sensations without judgment, just simply feeling into your body.
Continue with gentle movements, such as reaching your arms up to the sky and twisting from side to side. Connect each movement with your breath, focusing on the present moment.
Finish with a few moments of rest in child’s pose, allowing yourself to fully relax and let go. Notice how you feel after this practice and see if there has been any shift in your mind and body.
Thank you for practicing mindfulness with me today. I hope this simple stretch helped you find a moment of peace and presence. Remember, the present moment is where true peace and happiness can be found. Have a wonderful day and remember to stay present in each moment of your life.
