The team at EVS Republic had a wild idea – to upgrade a Tesla Model X 75D to a Model X 90D by hand. This was a task that had never been done before, and they invited AI addict to document the entire process. As they began the project, they were faced with the risks and complexities involved in replacing the battery. One wrong move could cost them thousands of dollars in repairs.
The mechanics carefully raised the Model X into the air and began the process of removing the old battery pack. With the help of power tools, they removed numerous bolts holding the battery in place and carefully lowered it onto a custom rig designed to transport it around the shop.
Once the old battery was removed, they made a short drive to Donut Auto Parts to pick up a replacement 90 kilowatt hour battery pack. The team at EVS Republic showed off their collection of Tesla vehicles and parts, explaining their process for customers who need repairs or upgrades.
With the new battery in hand, they carefully aligned it with the vehicle belly and secured it in place with a series of bolts. After some vehicle programming, they were able to start the Model X and drive it forward and backward. The Tesla now displayed a rated range of 66 miles and an ideal range of 84 miles, with a 26 percent state of charge.
By upgrading the battery from 75 kilowatt hours to 90 kilowatt hours, they gained an additional 45 miles of range. The Model X was still able to connect to the Tesla Supercharger Network and charge without any issues. The team at EVS Republic was proud to showcase their work and help the Tesla community with their repairs and upgrades.
