Tesla Service Breaks Record as Most Expensive Yet! Earn Cash by Scrapping Old Parts

Hey everyone, Sean here from the Tesla family. Today, I want to share with you my recent experience with my 6-year-old Tesla Model 3 dual motor, which has 77,000 miles on it. Recently, I noticed a squeak coming from the wheel area, and it wasn’t the emissions testing mode, also known as fart mode. It was something else, so I decided to schedule an appointment with Tesla Service to get it checked out.

I documented the whole process, from booking the appointment to the final repair, to give you an inside look at what it’s like to get your Tesla serviced. I started by using the Tesla app to request service, selecting noise and vibration as the support topic, and providing details about the squeak I was hearing. I also mentioned that I suspected it might be a control arm issue.

After booking the appointment, I received a cost estimate from Tesla, which included replacing two front upper control arms and performing a tire rotation. The total estimate came out to $280.69, which I approved. I then prepared for drop off and took my car to the service center, where I was able to track the repair progress through the Tesla app.

The repair ended up taking 3 hours, during which Tesla replaced the upper control arms, lower compliance links, and lower lateral links to address the squeak. The total cost of the repair came out to $1,718, which was higher than I initially expected. However, I felt it was worth it to ensure the safety and smooth operation of my car.

After the repair was completed, I was happy to find that the squeak was gone, and my car was running smoothly again. I even took the old parts home with me to see how much they were worth at a scrapyard, where I only received $4 for them.

Overall, while the repair ended up being more costly than I originally anticipated, I’m glad I got it taken care of to keep my Tesla in top condition. It’s a great car that I plan on keeping for a long time, and I believe it’s worth investing in its maintenance. If you’re a Tesla owner, I hope this story gives you insight into the service process and encourages you to prioritize the care of your vehicle.
