The cost of wheel repair: quality vs. price. Don’t let a wheel repair disaster happen to you!

When it comes to car maintenance, one of the most common questions we receive is about wheel refinishing and repainting. While we don’t offer these services at our shop, we always stress the importance of using a high-quality wheel repair shop for any work you may need done.

Recently, we had a customer come in with a beautiful Audi sporting clean, sleek wheels that looked like they had just rolled off the lot. However, upon closer inspection, we noticed something alarming – the inside of the wheel barrel was absolutely filthy. It was caked with brake dust and grime, and no amount of scrubbing could get it clean.

The reason for this mess was clear – the outside of the wheel had been refinished by a less-than-stellar shop. The paint was starting to flake off, and more importantly, they had neglected to clean the inside of the wheel before painting it. As a result, when they sprayed the paint and clear coat, it had over-sprayed onto the inside of the wheel, trapping all that dirt and grime inside.

Unfortunately, this meant that the only way to truly clean the wheel would be to completely refinish it – a costly and time-consuming process. This was a perfect example of why it’s so important to choose a reputable and skilled craftsman for any work you have done on your car.

It’s tempting to go for the cheaper option, especially when it comes to something like wheel refinishing, but as this Audi owner learned the hard way, cutting corners can end up costing you more in the long run. The shoddy work done by a subpar shop had not only ruined the appearance of the wheels but had also created a permanent problem that would require extensive work to fix.

So, the next time you’re considering getting your wheels refinished or repainted, remember this cautionary tale. Don’t just go for the cheapest option – do your research, read reviews, and choose a shop with a reputation for quality work. Your wheels (and your wallet) will thank you in the long run.
