The Disassembly Process of a Wrecked Tesla Model 3 – What Happened?

Welcome back to the channel! This week, we are diving into the disassembly of a wrecked Tesla Model 3. If you’re interested in learning more about the collision repair process on Teslas, be sure to hit that subscribe button in the upper right-hand corner.

With the damaged hood removed, we can now start the process of taking apart the front of the vehicle. The front is held together with seven 10mm bolts, which we carefully remove. The front is then detached from the vehicle, allowing us to access the upper bumper bolts and remove the bumper harness.

Next, we remove the front absorber cushion and front rebar, making sure to disconnect the airbag sensors before taking off the rebar. The rad support is then removed, followed by the lower cradle extensions and active grille shutter.

As we inspect underneath the vehicle, we find a crack in the fan shroud assembly, which will need to be addressed during the repair process. The front right crush can is removed, along with the upper bolted-on fender support. The right fender, which is already partially ripped off, is completely removed, along with the fender liner.

Moving on, we take off the upper fender covers, wipers, and cowl cover. The broken left fender retainer and left headlight are removed, allowing us to detach the fender liner and access the left fender repeater lamp.

This particular vehicle will undergo a frame measurement using a 3D electronic measuring system to ensure there is no structural damage to the front frame rails. After measuring the vehicle, we find that both frame rails are within spec, with no red flags indicating damage.

The vehicle is then completely disassembled, with multiple apron brackets being replaced, along with the inner and outer apron. The strut tower and reinforcements will also be swapped out as they are out of spec. The front suspension will be removed, and the front door and left fender will be repainted.

Additionally, the front wiring harness, which is ripped in half, will be replaced. Be sure to subscribe and stay tuned for new Tesla content every Friday as we document the repair process and restoration of this Tesla Model 3.

Thank you for joining us on this disassembly journey, and we look forward to sharing the repair and restoration process with you in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on this Tesla Model 3 project!
