Hey guys, it’s Karna 11, and today I have to make a video that I really don’t like to make – ship repair. I recently got my first paint chip on my 2020 Supra, and I’m not too happy about it. Strangely enough, the chip is not in the front of the vehicle, but in the back, behind the rear wheel. It’s in the rear fender, and I’m not even sure how it happened. Maybe a rock kicked up and hit it, but it’s very strange to get a chip in that location.
To repair the chip, I’m using a product I’ve used before on my Corvette – the Dr. ColorChip paint repair kit. They have the colors for the 2020 Supra, you just need to know the paint code. For the Downshift Blue, it’s D07. You can look up your paint code for your car and let them know. I’ll put a link below to the Dr. ColorChip website so you can check it out.
The kit comes with everything you need – a microfiber towel, paint, seal act solution, brushes, squeegee, latex gloves, and a cloth for applying the seal act. The first step is to clean the chip with rubbing alcohol to remove any wax or debris. Then, you apply the paint with a brush, build it up, and let it cure. After that, you use the seal act solution to remove any excess paint and smooth out the chip.
I followed the instructions and applied the paint, let it cure, and used the seal act solution to remove the excess. I repeated the process a few times to try to fill in the chip as best as I could. After buffing it with the microfiber towel, the chip was barely visible, only from certain angles. I was really happy with the results, and overall, the repair was successful.
If you’re facing a similar issue with paint chips on your car, I definitely recommend trying out the Dr. ColorChip paint repair kit. It’s easy to use and provides great results. Just be patient and follow the instructions carefully.
