Hey Pookies! Today, we’re diving into the world of makeup dupes with a focus on e.l.f Cosmetics. Known for their iconic makeup dupes, e.l.f has gained a reputation for offering affordable alternatives to high-end products. But are their affordable makeup products really better options than their more expensive counterparts? Well, there’s only one way to find out!
I decided to put e.l.f products to the test by doing a half-face makeup look using e.l.f products and the other half using the more expensive dupes that e.l.f products are based off of. From sunscreen to primers, foundations, blushes, and mascaras, I compared and contrasted each product to see which one came out on top.
Starting with e.l.f’s Sunscreen Touchable Glow, I compared it to the more expensive Super Goop sunscreen. The results were surprisingly similar, with the e.l.f sunscreen feeling slightly tackier but still performing well. Moving on to primers, the e.l.f Liquid Poreless Putty Primer held its own against the Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas Primer, with both products providing a smooth base for makeup application.
Next up was the e.l.f Power Grip Primer, a viral TikTok favorite, compared to the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer. While both primers had their strengths, I found the e.l.f primer to be more suitable for my preferences.
One of the standout products was the e.l.f Halo Glow Liquid Filter, a dupe for the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. The e.l.f foundation impressed me with its buildable coverage and dewy finish, making it a strong contender against its more expensive counterpart.
As I continued with contour, concealer, blush, setting powder, brows, mascara, and lips, I found that many of the e.l.f products performed just as well as their high-end counterparts. Not only did they provide similar results, but they also came at a fraction of the cost.
In the end, after totaling up the cost of both sides of my face, the e.l.f products came out to be significantly more affordable at $125 compared to the $531 cost of the high-end products. This experiment has officially converted me into an e.l.f fan, and I highly recommend giving their products a try.
